The Indonesian-Chilean Chamber of Commerce and Culture presents this week's news highlights concerning the economic and trade relations between Indonesia and Chile.

The Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of Araucanía has certified over 150,000 tons of agricultural products for the 2024/2025 export season. This milestone includes first-time exports of asparagus and peonies from the Malleco province. The certification ensures the exported goods are free from pests and diseases, meeting the health requirements of the destination countries.

Despite potential complications, Chilean salmon producers are confident of reaching a satisfactory agreement with Russian authorities. Russia has threatened to ban imports of Chilean seafood, including salmon, due to documentation and labeling issues. Both Chilean authorities and industry players are actively working to resolve these issues.

Chile's copper exports have reached a total of US$30.722 billion from January to July 2025, representing 61% of the total achieved in 2024. Asia accounts for 70% of the total exported amount, with China leading the demand, followed by Japan and South Korea.

However, salmon exports from the Los Lagos region have seen a decline in July 2025, with a 8.2% decrease compared to the previous year. This decline is significant in the Japanese and Brazilian markets, both crucial for the industry.

In other news, foreign investment in Chile has totaled US$9.470 billion up to July 2025, with the largest component being the reinvestment of profits.

Lastly, the Indonesian government has confiscated lands belonging to nickel miners due to lack of forestry permits. This move is part of the national crackdown on illegal exploitation of natural resources.
